About Amdrain Foundation Insulation

Amdrain is a two-in-one rigid Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) insulation board with integrated drainage channels. The panel is designed to be used in both exterior and interior applications for below grade foundation walls. The inner side (in contact with foundation wall) has vertical grooves (9/16”/14.2mm deep) creating small air gaps and allowing for moisture drainage while the opposite side is flat.

Amdrain EPS Panel

Amdrain EPS panel comes in 4’x8’ (1.22m x 2.44m) sheets with the thickness ranging from 1.5” (38mm) to 5” (127mm). The panels are designed to be installed in the vertical orientation only. The tongue and groove interlock helps maintain the continuity of the insulation eliminating the need for taping of the joints.

Why Build with Amdrain?

Superior Thermal Insulator

Amdrain has exceptional long-term R-value retention as well as increased thermal resistance in lower temperatures.

No Risk of Trapped Moisture

Made from EPS with high permeance to allow the passage of water vapor.

Easy to Install

Amdrain foundation insulation is installed with no special tools, equipment or skills.

Durable

Has excellent resistance to mold, mildew and maintains its performance over time.

Moisture Management

When installed on the interior, the vertical grooves provide a drainage plane separating potential condensation from the wood framing.

Additional Protection for Waterproofing and Damp Proofing Systems

Provides additional protection during backfill to the waterproofing and/or damp roofing system installed on the foundation wall.

Improved Drainage

When installed on the exterior, the vertical grooves provide an additional drainage plane relieving any hydrostatic pressure, allowing moisture to be redirected down to foundation drain.
